The anti-fascist cards of 1942 (Code: g00887)

The anti-fascist cards of 1942 issued in besieged Leningrad are one of the most famous and rarest decks of the CPC. The release of this deck during the war is overgrown with legends. It is still unknown how many such decks were released.

When the Great Patriotic War began, the 2nd lithograph ceased to produce playing cards. But with the advent of 1942, a responsible task was received: to re-launch the stopped printing presses, to resume production and to set up the production of cards. Why could this be necessary during the war, and even so urgent? Maps were used in the war - it was decided to start production of ... Anti-Fascist cards. In the besieged Leningrad, a handful of specialists were engaged in previously producing cards. The artist Vasily Vlasov painted these cards. Hungry, under difficult conditions, they worked almost without sleep and rest, and soon the Anti-Fascist maps were already loaded into planes, the route of which lay beyond the front line, where, along with leaflets, these cards were scattered around enemy units ... The deck was redrawn from old photographs artist Elena Petrova in 2003. Fragments of a caricature by Y. Ganf "Costume Story" from the magazine "Crocodile" No. 39-40, 1944, were added to the spectacle cards; a cartoon of Dmitry Moore was printed on the back.
