The publisher of these cards is renowned playing card collector Janis Metra. Thanks to Janis's publishing activities, collectors have acquired many very interesting decks. You can see most of them on our website. This deck is dedicated to prison life in the USSR. Both Janis Metra and the artist, Bruno Javoiss, experienced Soviet prisons.

This deck is mentioned in a book from the Peterhof Museum of Playing Cards, as Janis Metra gave it to Alexander Perelman.

his deck, like most others, was reissued in Russia at the request of Janis Metra in 2010.
